THE 2023 GUILD COUNCIL SWORN IN

On Friday 27th the Guild council for the year 2023 was sworn in, the event took place in the campus main hall after the exams that had been going on earlier that morning .The swearing in has come after an election that took place last year December towards the end of the school year . The elected members include the : guild president, vice president, general secretary , the speaker and the various nominated ministers.

In attendance of the ceremony , was the vice chancellor, campus director , dean of students, the academic affairs coordinator , guests from Pax press the student body , former guild council members and the newly elected guild council members .

The ceremony was nothing short of colorful and historical being that this is the second guild council in place since this Kigali campus was started .

During the event a variety of issues were discussed through speeches made by different parties among them; matters attendance which were discussed by the academic affairs coordinator who lamented on the poor attendance of students for their classes hence undermining the requirement for 80% attendance in order for one to be allowed to sit for their examinations.

He further encouraged students to take their education more seriously ,indicating there is need to go an extra mile beyond the classroom lessons , to read and do research which would then result in a better academic performance.

With the management and the student body bearing witness, the former guild council handed over the reigns of student leadership to the new council. members as they took their oaths and formally introduced themselves to the students.

Speaking on behalf of the management ,the vice chancellor assured the new guild council that they were ready to work with them and support them in their work .The guild president appreciated the former council for their work and for paving the way for incoming council he also called for the student body to engage with the council members .

“I would like to ask the students to engage with us , that we may share ideas and they give us work to do because they elected us .”MUGEMA Ashley said .
