President, Paul Kagame’s new security appointments.

Commander in chief of the armed forces, president Paul kagame, on the 5th of June 2023 made strategic changes and appointments to Rwandan security in a bid to ensure that these essential possitions are held by competent leaders that have been dimmed fit for these positions, in a tweet by the president’s office the appointments are of ten key positions.

Among those appointed is the new minister of defence Juvinel Marizamunda who initially served in different positions in security and law enforcing institutions among them Rwanda defence forces, Rwanda national police and Rwanda Correctional services where he was still serving until his appointment. He replaces Maj. Gen Albert Murasira who had held the position since 2018.

The newly appointed chief of defence of staff Lt Gen Mubarakh Muganga who is replacing Gen Jean-Bosco Kazura and is no stranger to matters security having served for more than 30 years in RDF he was initially army chief of staff.

Other than the appointments that took place, there was a promotion to colonel involving the newly appointed Lt Col Agustin Migabo who was appointed to defence commander special force command.

The president also appointed Mr Jean Bosco Ntibitura to director general Internal security -NISS, he was serving as the head of security policy and standards department in the ministry of ICT and innovation.

Other appointments include that of Maj Gen vincent Nyakarundi as the Army chief of Staff RDF, Maj Gen Alex Kagame as JTF commander -Mozambique, Col Theodomir Bahizi who was appointed Battle Group Commander.https://www.ktpress.rw/2023/06/major-shakeup-president-kagame-appoints-new-defence-army-chiefs/

Meanwhile president Kagame also named Maj Gen Eugine NKUBITO as 3rd division Commander RDF, Brig gen evariste Murenzi as Commissioner general of RCS and Col Francis Regis Gatarayiha as Ag Head of Defence intelligence -RDF .
