Eng. Silas Lwakabamba, the guest of honour at the East African University Rwanda (EAUR) seventh graduation ceremony, has urged graduates to combine academic knowledge with good character as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
He made the remarks on Thursday, October 29, 2026, during the university’s graduation ceremony at Intare Conference Arena in Kigali, where the Class of 2026 celebrated the completion of their studies.
Lwakabamba congratulated the graduates on their achievement, praising their hard work and perseverance in overcoming challenges throughout their academic journey.
“Today we celebrate your hard work and the success of your efforts. You should certainly be proud of yourselves,” he said.
He also thanked parents, guardians, families and friends for supporting the graduates, noting that their encouragement had helped them reach the milestone.
“We also thank your parents, your guardians, your families, your friends. The support and encouragement they have given you have helped you reach this successful day,” Lwakabamba said.
He said the ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate not only academic achievement but also the diversity of knowledge and character, reminding graduates that education should extend beyond obtaining qualifications.
“Knowledge and good character must go together. Knowledge helps us to understand,” he said.
