Maureen Umwiza, one of the graduates of the East African University Rwanda (EAUR), has thanked the university, organisations and individuals who helped students access education and pursue their goals.
She made the remarks on Thursday, October 29, 2026, during EAUR’s seventh graduation ceremony held at Intare Conference Arena in Kigali.
Umwiza said some graduates completed their studies with the support of scholarships, noting that the assistance enabled them to continue their education and work towards their ambitions.
She acknowledged that the academic journey had not been easy, as students faced challenges balancing their studies with family responsibilities, conducting research and completing numerous assignments.
Despite these difficulties, Umwiza said perseverance, hard work and commitment to their goals had helped them reach graduation day.
“Today, we made it. Celebrate your achievements because you truly deserve it,” she told fellow graduates.
She added that the graduates had gained more than academic qualifications, explaining that their university experience had also helped them develop discipline, critical thinking and the ability to face challenges.
Umwiza urged fellow graduates to use the knowledge and skills they acquired at EAUR to contribute to community development and address challenges affecting society.
She said their education should serve as a tool for bringing positive change to their families, communities and the country as a whole.
