The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the East African University Rwanda (EAUR), Jolly Irankunda, has urged graduates to apply their knowledge to solving real-world problems, creating opportunities and contributing to society.

Speaking during the university’s seventh graduation ceremony at Intare Conference Arena in Kigali on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Irankunda said graduation marked the beginning of a new chapter in which graduates should translate their education and talents into practical solutions.

“Your graduation marks the beginning of greater opportunities to make a difference,” she told the graduates, encouraging them to use their talents to address challenges and create opportunities for others.

She urged them to uphold integrity and take responsibility in their respective fields, saying Rwanda needs people who can innovate, develop practical solutions and serve their communities with commitment.

“True success is measured not only by personal achievement but also by the positive difference you make in the lives of others,” Irankunda said.

She also highlighted the importance of responsible resource management, innovation and quality education in strengthening the university’s long-term development.

“The continued success of East African University Rwanda depends on shared responsibility,” she said, stressing that the Board of Trustees must provide effective oversight while university management fulfils its commitments and maintains professional standards.

Irankunda called for continued collaboration among the university’s leadership, staff and other stakeholders to improve institutional performance and safeguard EAUR’s future.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, she congratulated the graduates and urged them to make responsible decisions as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
