In an exciting step forward for tourism and urban innovation, the city of Kigali is set to welcome the Kigali Sky Wheel, Rwanda very first observation wheel and one of the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Expected to be completed by 2028, the project will offer stunning 360 view of the city, with each ride lasting around 15 minutes. It’s designed to carry over 50,000 people per day, connecting key locations like BK Arena, Amahoro Stadium, and the Kigali Convention Centre.
the total investment is estimated at $100 million, and the project is part of Rwanda broader plan to transform Kigali into a smart, green, and inclusive city under Vision 2050. “This project reflects our commitment to building a modern, green, and inclusive city,” said an official from the Minister of Infrastructure.

The African Development Bank has already committed $500,000 to support initial feasibility studies, with full construction expected to kick off by late 2026.
This is more than just a tourist attraction it’s a symbol of Kigali fast growing reputation as one of Africa most forward thinking cities.
