From June 30 to July 1, 2025, the Kigali Convention Center hosted a key event focused on Africa’s energy future: the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA). The summit came at a critical time, as nearly 600 million Africans still lack access to electricity.

With this energy crisis in mind, the summit explored how nuclear power could become a sustainable and reliable solution for the continent. Experts say that nuclear energy, known for low carbon emissions and falling production costs, could help power African countries while also supporting global climate goals.
The Kigali summit brought together a wide range of participants, including energy experts, policymakers, investors, and technology partners, to discuss how nuclear technology can be adapted to African realities. The goal was to build strategic partnerships and explore innovative solutions for expanding access to clean, affordable energy across the continent.
