From The 4th until the 6th Of November, Kigali hosted the Africa Energy Expo which convened several leaders, entrepreneurs, companies and shareholders in the energy sector, all working together to reshape the sector for an energy-rich Africa.
The Expo which was the very first edition to be held in Africa, took place in Kigali Convention Centre, with an aim to drive energy sector progress, investment opportunities. This will lead the continent to experience a new transformative energy era in Africa and help shape the industry’s responses to a new reality and highlight pathways to a successful future.
Participants say that the event was an opportunity for the to meet and create networks but also get opened to new opportunities.
One of the booth managers from LTL Transformers (PVT) Ltd of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, revealed that the Expo was an occasion for them to showcase our products. He said, “LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd offers a complete range of power and distribution transformers designed for reliability and durability while providing efficiency in utility. Our expectations are main fold: to find enthusiasts customers and to connect with the African market. The problem was getting into the African market, but thanks to this event we will discover more of this African region and then expand to other parts of Africa”.
On the other side, some participants believe that the event was a great window for them to open new investment relationships in the sector. ‘’This international event was also a great opportunity to make friends,” said one of the booth managers from Shenzhen ATESS Power Technology Co, a global supplier of solar energy storage systems.
More than 150 exhibitors from the renewable and clean energy, transmission and distribution, energy consumption and management, back-up generators and critical power, and smart solutions industries attended the Africa Energy Expo, showcasing products and solutions aimed at transforming the African energy landscape.
Participants benefited from Panel discussions enriched by experts from all over the world. The themes mostly focused on the development of a sound policy framework to take advantage of the single electricity market in Africa on the first day, and the presentation of the latest innovations in the energy sector by international and local exhibitors. On the third day which was the closing day of the Expo, the discussions were about how to achieve universal energy access in Africa on the second day and the promise of green hydrogen in the transition to a low-carbon energy system, Integrating Distributed Renewable Energy-DRE into the grid. These themes have been enriched by experts from all over the world.
