EAUR Volleyball Club Faces Tough Weekend as Coach Dusabimana Remains Optimistic

The East African University Rwanda (EAUR) Volleyball Club faced a challenging weekend on February 15-16, 2025, suffering consecutive defeats against Kepler VC and APR VC. Despite the setbacks, head coach Dusabimana Vicent remains confident in his team’s progress and believes they still have a strong chance of achieving their season objectives.

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, EAUR went up against Kepler VC in a competitive match but fell short, losing 3-1 in sets:

Set 1: Kepler 25-27 EAUR

Set 2: Kepler 25-22 EAUR

Set 3: Kepler 25-16 EAUR

Set 4: Kepler 25-19 EAUR

The following day, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, EAUR faced APR VC, but struggled to find their rhythm, suffering a 3-0 defeat:

Set 1: APR 25-14 EAUR

Set 2: APR 25-21 EAUR

Set 3: APR 27-25 EAUR

While the results were disappointing, EAUR showed glimpses of potential, particularly in the final set against APR, where they pushed their opponents to the limit.

Despite the back-to-back losses, head coach Dusabimana Vicent dismissed any major concerns, emphasizing that the team was well-prepared but simply lacked the finishing edge.

“I wouldn’t say we lacked anything because we trained well, and all our players were fit. Sometimes, matches don’t go as planned, but that doesn’t mean we are not on the right track. Next time, we will do better,” he stated.

Dusabimana also took the opportunity to express his appreciation to EAUR’s management for supporting the volleyball team, which is still in its early stages.

“We are grateful to the leadership of EAUR for allowing us to establish a volleyball team. This is only our second season, but it has already provided a platform for young players and coaches to showcase their talents. I also want to thank our fans for their continuous support,” he added.

Despite the recent struggles, Dusabimana remains focused on the team’s long-term vision and insists that their goal of finishing among the top four teams in the league is still achievable.

“Our primary mission as a university is to educate students, but we also recognize the value of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals. Our goal remains to finish in the top four. Even if we fall short this season, we will come back stronger next year,” he affirmed.

With more games ahead, EAUR will be looking to regroup, make necessary adjustments, and fight for better results in the coming matches.
