Rwanda’s Amavubi were held to a goalless draw by Kenya’s Harambee Stars in a FIFA friendly at Amahoro Stadium on Monday evening.

Neither side managed to find the breakthrough as both teams settled for a share of the spoils.

Amavubi head coach Stephen Constantine made several changes to his starting lineup, handing Elie Tatou and Darryl their first senior starts for the national team, while Innocent Nshuti captained Rwanda.

After a difficult first half for Rwanda, Constantine introduced Lance and Leroy Mickels in the second half, alongside captain Djihad Bizimana, as the hosts looked to change the game.

Kenya, coached by former Manchester City striker Benni McCarthy, controlled much of the possession in the opening half, with Vincent Harper and Stanley Wilson among their notable performers.

The draw comes as Rwanda prepares for its next competitive fixtures in November, when the Amavubi will face Mali in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 2027 AFCON finals will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
