Students from East African University Rwanda (EAUR) say advice from President Paul Kagame has encouraged them to build confidence, pursue their ambitions and reflect on their role in Rwanda’s development.

The students were speaking after attending the Meet the President event at BK Arena in Kigali on Wednesday, October 21, where more than 10,000 young people gathered to interact with the Head of State.

Mugara Obeya, an EAUR student and artist, said meeting Kagame left him overwhelmed with excitement.

“Today, I am extremely happy. If you see me trembling or struggling to find my words, it is because my excitement has overwhelmed me,” he said.

Another EAUR student, Kirezi Clarisse, said meeting the President for the first time and listening to his advice gave her an opportunity to reflect on her personal ambitions.

“Meeting the President for the first time was a special experience for me. The advice he gave us made me reflect more deeply on my life and what I can achieve,” she said.

The students said the experience reinforced the importance of believing in themselves, making good use of available opportunities and remaining determined to achieve their goals.
