East African University Rwanda has been awarded the title of Best Private University of the Year during the fourth edition of the Kigali Multicultural Festival, an annual event organized by Karisimbi Events to celebrate excellence in culture, arts, and national development.
The festival, which brings together Rwandans and members of the international community living in Rwanda, aims to recognize individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to society.
Speaking at the event, Mugisha Emmanuel, representative of Karisimbi Events, said the awards are part of a long-standing initiative that has been running for 15 years, focused on promoting culture, creativity, and development through recognition of excellence.
He explained that this year’s edition included a special education category designed to honor institutions and educators contributing significantly to the advancement of education in Rwanda. East African University Rwanda was selected following an evaluation of its performance, innovation, and contribution to youth development.
Mugisha praised the university for its practical and skills-based approach to education, noting that it equips students with knowledge that enables them to secure employment and create their own opportunities. He also highlighted the institution’s role in strengthening higher education standards in Rwanda and the wider East African region.
The award was received by a delegation from East African University Rwanda led by Director Peter Kasaija, who was accompanied by other university officials representing the institution at the ceremony.
In his remarks, Kasaija expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying the award reflects the collective effort of the entire university community, including staff and students.
“We are deeply honored to receive this award as the Best Private University of the Year,” he said. “The organizers assessed institutions based on their progress throughout the year, interviews, and overall achievements. This recognition belongs to our staff and students who have worked tirelessly to fulfill the university’s mission.”
He added that the award serves as both recognition and motivation for the institution to continue improving its academic programs.
“This inspires us to strengthen our commitment to providing hands-on skills, relevant knowledge, and innovation that meet the demands of today’s job market and future opportunities,” he said.
The ceremony concluded with a call for continued collaboration between institutions, organizations, and stakeholders to further support education, innovation, and national development in Rwanda.
